Adventure is out there!

During a recent visit to the Walt Disney World Resort we booked the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. It is a 2 hour Segway X2 tour around the campgrounds and is a fun activity to do without having to go into the parks. The tour starts at the Bike Barn at 8:30 in the morning but hey ask you arrive by 8:15. We decided to drive from our resort to the campground to make sure we would arrive on time. If you do not have a car on property you can arrange a Minnie Van service or Uber/Lyft. Once through security and parked we walked over the bus depot. The Bus drivers were helpful getting us on the right bus to the Bike Barn.

After signing waivers, receiving helmets, and ear pieces, we watched a short safety video. Then we were taken behind the Barn for a 30 minute training course. Turn to left, turn to right, speed up, stop! Up the hill, down the hill, and back again!

I was so nervous at first. I was scared I would not be able to balance enough to control it, but husband and I were pleasantly surprised that we both caught on pretty quickly. Before we knew it our tour of 8, 3 couples and 2 guides were taking off.

We started off riding through the campgrounds. Our tour guide pointed out the features of the grounds and provided interesting Disney facts along the way. We made 2 stops during the tour. The first was on the edge of Bay Lake with a glimpse of the castle in the background for a few photos.

The Contemporary, Space Mountain, and Cinderella Castle can be seen in the distance.

The second stop we spent a bit more time at. We arrived at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch right at opening. The horses were gorgeous and the displays very interesting. The stables are beautiful. We did not get to see the whites horses that pull the carriages but it was still fun to see a little behind the scenes magic.

This is a fun adventure that I would do again. Your feet do get tired though. So be sure to wear good comfortable shoes, no sandals. The tour is for 16 year olds and older and costs $90 per person. Passholders get a discount, I think we paid $80 each. So if you are looking for something different to do at Disney, check this tour out.
